Farm animals! Again! I guess, technically, it is the first time we have looked at farm animals specifically since we moved on to preschool. It is still the easiest theme to find ideas and great free printables!

DIY Paper Bag Puppets

  • We are finally using these farm animal puppets from Happy and Blessed Home – thank you!
  • We gave these to him with white paper bags, scissors and glue (though he ended up using tape) to make the cutest farm animal puppets!

Farm Animal & Baby Photo Match

  • This is a set of cute mom and baby farm animal matching cards that I made in Publisher, using free stock images and text on top of each image.
  • We put these out on a small cookie sheet.

Fun Farm Coloring Book

  • This is simply last time’s Farm Coloring Book reprinted for summer 2015!
  • We gave him this little book unstapled with a tray full of crayons!

Cut + Paste Patterning

  • This is one of two activities from the Free Fun Time on the Farm set on Teachers Pay Teachers – thank you!
  • This one warranted color so I printed it as such, then gave him scissors adn glue to paste the next item in the pattern!

Unifix Mud on the Pig

Farm Reusable Stickers Scene

Farm Pattern Page

  • Here is the second activity from the Free Fun Time on the Farm worksheet set!
  • This time it is in black and white, but I appreciate the different way to look at patterns.
  • Circle what comes next!

Preposition Farm

  • Here is another of one of the many great printables used on this theme, Preposition Farm on Teachers Pay Teachers — thank you!
  • I printed this little booklet in color, but didn’t bind it. We put all the “cards” out and reviewed them.
  • Such an effective way to learn about prepositions – a pretty tough concept to teach!

Spot the Difference

  • Still one of E’s favorite things to do — find the difference! (We’ll ignore the fact that he finds them faster than me now.)
  • This is from the Find a Difference – Farm Edition by Teachers Pay Teachers.
  • It did just fine printed in black and white – very cool!

Corn Sensory Bin

Barn Cut + Paste

  • This is the well-designed A Trip to the Farm I See by Amanda Butt on Teachers Pay Teachers – thank you for the thoughtful resource!
  • I printed the barn pages in black and white, but the animals in color.
  • Cut and paste to match the animals on the right pages!

Egg & Chicken Number Match

  • This printable was available from Itsy Bitsy Learners (see pin) – thank you!
  • I printed this out with the very first farm theme! That was when I had cut them all out, too.
  • Realizing he is already a little old for this one, I laid it out as I would have anyway — the eggs in one container, number in a small container, and the chickens in another.
  • Match the number, number of eggs, and right sized chicken in a line!

Plurals on the Farm

  • Now for what was my favorite printable of this set: Plurals on the Farm found on Teachers Pay Teachers!
  • I printed these in color and trimmed them to size…
  • I absolutely loved this simple but super effective way to talk about plurals.
  • I ended up sitting across from him and almost “dealing” them like cards. Very cool!

Of course we had farm-related fun during this week of farm school. He even jumped at the opportunity to ride a horse for the first time, PLUS spent a long time in the petting zoo! Very fun!

We’ve recycled some ideas for these farm preschool trays but there are many more if you want to check them out:
