Back when I started this blog, I thought I would do 2-4 posts per theme. Back when I started this blog, I didn’t work full-time! So that original plan was never going to work.

I pretty soon went to weekly posts of the weekly themes, with other stuff here and there. Especially new to my job, though, I couldn’t keep up with posting! It’s been good now for several months, mostly writing on my bus ride to or from work.

But I had this one post that I just hadn’t finished. I was caught up so much that I decided to look back. Why hadn’t I done it? The pictures were too dark. That’s it! So I’m proud to say I edited the images, and am no longer behind as I post this week of 15 Bug Preschool Trays!

Have fun learning with 15 Bug Preschool Trays!

Bug Puzzles

Butterfly Paper Scrap Craft

  • The big butterfly from the LEGO activity above made another appearance in a cute little craft!
  • One for us to do together, I gave him a bunch of scraps of old (and I mean old, why had I kept this 3″ x 1″ piece of paper for 20 years?!) paper, scissors, and glue.
  • Taking him a little out of his comfort zone, I told him to rip the paper (a la Rippy Bits from Spongebob). Then glue them on! :)

Ladybug Leaf Game

  • This super cute dice game is from the Spring Pre-K Pack by This Reading Mama!
  • I ended up mounting the ladybugs back to back with some adhesive foam squares, giving them a little dimension
  • Put these with the leaf page and a simple wooden die (numbers 1-4) so he could play the game!

Tricky Triangle with Silhouette Cameo “Bugs”

  • This starts with the iconic Tricky Triangle!
  • I envisioned having little colored glass gems act as bugs to balance on top of golf tees
  • While at first I thought I would simply draw on the gems, I decided to use my Silhouette Cameo and some of the many scraps of black adhesive vinyl I have to cut bug stripes and dots.
  • The result was a cute little set of bugs — intended to be ladybugs, bees, and flies – to carefully position on the top of each tee!

Buggy Play Dough Tray”

Bug Phonics

Shadow Matching
1-6 Number Tracing

  • Both of these activities are from the Lets Get Buggy pack from Creative Preschool Resources! Thank you!
  • I printed these for a past bug theme but it was good to see them again.

So there we go – THIS post actually wraps up our informal “summer animal preschool” weeks we ended up doing. Good stuff!
