Some activities arise from necessity. Let’s wash the dishes! Let’s sort the laundry! And so on.
This one involves the ice in the freezer. Have you noticed it starts to taste kind of weird when it sits in the bin too long? Or, in the case of ours, sometimes they combine into this glacier-like mass that no one wants to chip away at (for the purpose of chilling a drink, at least.)
Either way, this “unwanted” ice is a wonderful start for some FREE fun! I like to grab a whole bunch of ice and add some basic tools — scoops, pitchers, cups, bowls, etc. Eventually water usually comes into the mix as we make a “soup.”
Inside or out (but especially out) cleanup is easy, of course.
Easy setup, free, helpful, and easy to clean. We did this little activity when he was barely one and I imagine we will find new ways to play with ice for years to come!
