Since E was young we have had several periods of time where we have to simply avoid certain toys. Basically, anything and everything can become a projectile! A favorite early remedy for this was a set of Sponge Balls from Oriental Trading. Another similar way to play is even simpler: Pom Poms! Or pompoms! Or however you like to refer to these fuzzy things :)

I have one of my favorite shoebox-sized Sterilite containers absolutely packed full with pom poms. While you can get them at the dollar store (and they often have nice color varieties) — I find the value better at a craft store.

For a recent “pom pom play” we gathered a couple simple things. From the dollar store, we used a favorite tray, some baskets, and scoops. We added empty Ovaltine continer and a sandwich container.

Then – play away! Dump, toss, sort, and so on. Plus, the cat can get in on the fun!

    • It still remains one of our favorites. Now it is often the ice cream for a pretend ice cream shop! :) Thanks for commenting!
