It’ll probably be a few days until I get the full Pumpkin theme recap completed, but in the meantime I wanted to include some information on a simple, but hugely successful sensory tray!

When I scheduled most of the fall themes I wanted to try and include a sensory bin in each one. Even though I used sesame seeds last week, I knew pumpkin seeds would be great this week. Also, I wanted it to be just ‘pumpkins’ not ‘jack-o-lanterns’ (we will have plenty of those later)!

Also, as we were not quite ready to cut into a pumpkin yet this season, I planned to purchase pumpkin seeds for this purpose. They seem to be a lot more expensive this year! So I decided to work with just two bags and this is what we did:

Its simple parts include:

  • Some pumpkin seeds (this is two standard sized David-brand bags worth)
  • A long tray
  • Some small pumpkins (from the craft store)
  • A raffia pumpkin with a lid
  • Some tiny pumpkin erasers (that someone hid in the raffia pumpkin last year…)
  • An IKEA soup spoon

Scoop, pour, sort — a simple fall-inspired tray that’s a bunch of fun!
