The outdoor cleanup between summer and fall is more entertaining with a kid in the house. I learned this weekend that even the root-infused soil that provided us herbs and lettuce this year can promote a fun preschool nature activity!
This is an easy preschool nature activity that E actually came up with. We were cleaning out a few of our potted plants as they were done blooming for the summer. While he worked on cleaning rocks, I cut up the leaves and roots for compost. We both finished up and he asked what I was doing with the plant-less pots of packed soil.
I helped him turn the soil out onto the mulch, and he went from there! He first decorated with freshly cleaned rocks and mint sprigs, but soon added flower petals and pine cones. A little inchworm (named Wormer) even made this house his home!
I appreciated this simple outdoor preschool nature activity to say goodbye to summer and give fall a warm welcome!
