Hello and welcome! This is smartE partE! This party includes me (M), my husband (D) and our son E.
D and I were together for 13 years (6 married) before our child, so we have had plenty of time to think and talk about being parents. One thing we knew – we would homeschool, for at least the early years. We were both really ‘held back’ by our public schools – doing pointless ‘extra credit’ work, tutoring other students, and waiting around – when we finished the mediocre work that was assigned. No matter how our son was we knew that learning at home and supplementing outside the home was the way to go.
Fast forward to now and we have a huge, smart near 3 year old who loves to learn, and remembers EVERYTHING.
I have taken a couple other approaches to ‘tot school’ before, focusing too much on lists (and lists) and what I need to buy rather than actually doing activities. Plus, and a good plus, summer and fall got in the way. So the coldest day we have had all winter sounds like a perfect place to start.
At this point my goal is to provide six or so fun learning activities for him to choose to do when he wants to, or perhaps with a little encouragement when he is bored. He takes so well to any sort of activity we do so I think this will go well! I try to plan about a month in advance but I enjoy being able to casually think of themes, watch Pinterest for new ideas, and tailor activities to what’s going on in our everyday lives.
I have a strong computer background, whether I like it or not. Plus I love crafts, and my husband is a baker! And we are both packrats. So really, we have so much of what we need for great tot school activities. A couple trips to the dollar store and a few Oriental Trading and Lakeshore Learning orders will even things out.
Again, thanks for visiting and enjoy exploring with E!
